Mamo won two awards at the 2025 Hawaii Coffee Association Statewide cupping contest: First in Kona and First in the Creative Division because of its unique varietal. Over 25 years in the making, Mamo is a hybrid coffee variety, the mother is Maragogype and the father is Mokka, each have prized characteristics and when brought together produce an exceptional cup quality.
Mamo is a truly extraordinary Kona Coffee, featuring unique notes of spice, raisin, cherry, blackberry and cacao.
Mamo (meaning descendant in Hawaiian) is a product of a collaboration that began in 1999 between HARC (Hawaii Agricultural Research Center), Hawaii Grower's Association and Greenwell Farms. This variety was chosen by Greenwell Farms to pursue its own unique variety. We are delighted to see this exceptional variety come to full fruition, an embodiment of the vision we set out to achieve. Mamo has truly found its place here, and we’re so honored to have it growing on our farm. What began as a hopeful vision has become something really special. Mamo is distinctive, beautiful, and a true part of who we are.
