Making a Latte Art “Heart” A Valentine’s Day Love Story

As Valentine’s Day approaches, you may be wondering what cool little things you can do to surprise and delight your sweetheart. Certainly, there are big ticket gestures we all know. Crossing something off the bucket list together, the romantic weekend at the spa, even the romantic dinner.

However, if you’ve been in a relationship for a while you may find that the little things and small intimate gestures really say the most. As Valentine’s Day is on a Friday this year, you may have to work it into your regular routine.

P.S. Professing your love on Instagram doesn’t count.

What I am trying to get at is the personal touches. A small note, a foot massage, bringing home their favorite ice cream or their favorite drink. Watching a sunset together, looking through an old photo album or calling friends together (on speaker phone just to say “Hi”)

The point is, those small personal interactions can be super endearing if done with love and care. Which brings me to my point.

If you love morning espresso, there is no better way to say “I love you” than making your partner a fresh latte with a beautiful foam heart. Combine it with some strawberries and an elegant scone and you have set the mood for a great day.

That latte Art “Heart” is a silent gesture that your partner will carry with them all day.

I am going to link a few videos to this blog, but here is what you need:

1. An espresso maker (coffee/water)
2. Milk (steamed into hot milk with micro foam)
3. A metal milk pitcher with a pour spout

Here are the Latte Heart Art Basic Details:

a) Make your espresso and put in a cup
b) Steam milk and swirl lightly to get nice separation between foam and milk
c) From a height, pour milk into the center of the espresso and then slowly bring the pour spout closer to the cup
d) As the milk begins to rise and you have a nice round milk zone, come straight through it creating the top of the heart and a point at the bottom.

Voila!

Advice: Practice for a few days in secret.
